Anatoly Torkunov welcomed the guest and spoke about the traditions and history of MGIMO, emphasizing the need for universities and international organizations to cooperate regarding the training of experts in international relations. The sides discussed the opportunities for MGIMO students to undergo internships in the OSCE and decided to start working on a cooperation agreement. The University’s Vice-Rector for Human Resources Vladimir Morozov remarked that the OSCE has been effective in preventing military confrontations and strengthening security in Europe.
The Secretary General thanked MGIMO for the invitation and gave a lecture about the different means of ensuring continuous cooperation between countries, noting that no political process is possible without a certain level of trust between its participants. Effective collaboration can be achieved incrementally, with all countries taking small steps towards a common goal. After the lecture, Thomas Greminger took questions from the audience, spoke about the OSCE’s main activities and challenges, sharing his views on current issues of international relations.
